The Impact Of A Man’s Lifestyle & Health Choices On Penis Size

healthy lifestyle and penis size

Is it possible for the length of a penis, from being flaccid to erect, possibly change depending on particular factors? The potential for this has been investigated by an international research team and we will now take a closer look at the investigation and their findings.

The research team consisted of researchers from many universities such as Tulane University, Bangkok’s Mahidol University, University of California etc. These researchers investigated whether certain lifestyle factors and health changes were able to change the size of a man’s erect penis.

In the beginning of their research paper, they indicated the truth that most men tend to place an extraordinary amount of attention on the size of their penises, both while flaccid and erect. This paper was actually published in the International Journal of Impotence Research and it should be noted that Dr. Faysal Yafi is the first listed author.

Essentially, men pay attention to the size of their penis, whether they are a “grower” or a “shower”.

With that said, researchers found it quite challenging to easily determine which men fell into these two distinct groups.

In the study itself, 274 men were studied and each of these men suffered from erectile dysfunction. The size of each one of their penis’s were measured both while erect and flaccid.

Each of the participants were give an intracavernosal injection in order to make their penises become erect as well as audio and visual material to help assist sexual arousal. This injection is actually used in the treatment of erectile dysfunction.

Once the results were gathered, it was found that the average difference between the length of a penis while flaccid to an erect state was approximately 4 centimeters.

So, essentially men who are known to be growers were those whose penises grew by a minimum of 4cm from a flaccid to erect state, whereas showers were those whose penis length grew under 4cm.

The data showed that of all the men, 74% were showers or those whose penis didn’t expand more than 4cm whereas 26% were growers, meaning that their penis expanded over 4cm from a flaccid to erect state.

The researchers checked numerous health and lifestyle factors to determine if they had an effect on penis expansion. Some of the factors that were examined include diabetes, smoking and radical prostatectomy.

The results indicated that there were no associations between penis size and lifestyle and health choices. Basically men with diabetes, smoking habits as well as those who had radical prostatectomy were spread between being growers and showers. Essentially, it was not possible to predict which male would be a grower or shower, based on any of these factors.

One association that the research team was able to determine was that men who were growers were usually single and young.

Due to this, researchers wondered why there was such a difference in penis size in younger and single men. They came to the conclusion that it was likely due to the physiological changes that naturally occur as a man grows older.

Unfortunately, as men age, they usually experience a reduced tissue elasticity as well as as an increase in inflammation as well as fibrosis. This basically leads to reduced blood flow to the penis which reduces the length of their penis when they become aroused and erect.

With that said, the researchers indicated that this was a rather small study with many restrictions. As a result, in order to actually validate the findings, more research thorough research would need to be done.
